Sayat Nova is the greatest Armenian troubadour (ashough) that has ever existed. This great musician and poet is remembered by Armenians as Sayat Nova, the King of Songs, an homage to his stature and prestige. The known body of songs attributed to Sayat Nova numbers around 220, written in three different languages, 31 of which are in Armenian; but the true volume of his work may have reached the thousands. This is a 2 CD set and is the first to feature all of his 31 Armenian songs in one production. It is performed by the Sayat Nova Ensemble of Armenia with Tovmas Poghosyan as the artistic director and produced by Hamazkayin Music Committee of Los Angeles, CA.
